The exact meaning of the expression logima hierà, attributed
to some Egyptian temples in the Late Ptolemaic and Roman
Period, has been widely debated. This study analyses in
detail the papyrological examples of this expression, in
order to reach a new definition of the value and meaning of
this honorific epithet in the administration of the Roman
Egypt.
