Foreign language teaching often faces the challenge of significant heterogeneity among students, particularly in terms of language proficiency levels. Artificial intelligence offers valuable tools to manage this diversity by supporting both differentiated instruction and an action-oriented approach. Differentiated instruction adapts materials and activities to individual needs by varying the media (text, audio, video) and instructional strategies, with a focus on personalization. The action-oriented approach, on the other hand, promotes learning through authentic tasks that can be carried out regardless of language level. Chatbots and AI-powered conversational tools can support this approach by providing learners with personalized and engaging interaction contexts. In summary, AI can be a powerful ally in managing multilevel classrooms and promoting more inclusive teaching, allowing each student to progress at their own pace. However, the effectiveness of instruction ultimately depends on the teacher’s ability to thoughtfully integrate technology and pedagogical strategies within a coherent and goal-oriented design.
