The aim of this work is to analyze the development of renewable source of energy in a market scenario characterized by growing energy demand and declining fossil oil supply causing higher and unpredictable price fluctuations. Other preoccupations are related to the side effects caused by gas emissions (GHG) responsible of climatk change and global warming according with some scientific studies and long terrn observations made by international organìzations. The first part is dedicated to the biofuel chain with energetic balance of sunflower and canola; thè second part is dedicated to the discussion of thè organizational network to realìze the industrial cycle through: research and development, testing, patenting and commercialization of energy products derived from agricultural commodities. The third part is dedicated to the economic analysis of the sunflower with evaluation of the scale economies of the biodiesel chain and consequent competitiveness.
