Accordingly with a changing environment that the community of the twenty-first century is going to undertake, this research is committed to analyze the role of the library, even in the city, and is mainly focused on its potential form to deal with the future. In this kind of setting, questions that arise are related to new tasks and improved roles that will have a part in the completion of the bibliographic and architectural framework which belongs, as is known, to the complexity of life and knowledge. La ricerca si propone di analizzare la figura della biblioteca anche della città, in un contesto di trasformazione che la società del XXI secolo s’incammina ad intraprendere rispetto ad una sua possibile configurazione per il futuro. L’interrogativo che si pone, in una simile realtà, riguarda i nuovi compiti e le rinnovate funzioni che possono formare l’ossatura bibliografica e architettonica che appartiene, come è noto, alla complessità della conoscenza e della vita. Die Forschung zielt darauf ab, die Form der Bibliothek, auch der Stadt, zu analysieren, in einem Kontext der Transformation der Gesellschaft des 21. Jahrhunderts in Bezug auf eine mögliche Konfiguration für die Zukunft. Die Frage, die sich in einer solchen Realität stellt, ist, welche neuen Aufgaben und Funktionen gebildet werden sollten, um eine Bibliographische und architektonischen Struktur zu entwickeln, die, wie bekannt, zur Komplexität des Wissens und des Lebens gehört.
