Finding of Ophraella communa LeSage (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae), an allochthonous species of American origin, in the Brussa area (Caorle, Venice district).
Within a multi-year study on the entomofauna in the area of the Brussa (municipality of Caorle, Venice district, Italy), in 2017 specimens of Ophraella communa LeSage (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae) were found in two sites. The beetle is an allochthonous species of American origin, associated with Asteraceae, in particular to Ambrosia artemisiifolia, an invasive weed also of American origin. This is the second record of O. communa in the Veneto region. The first one, always in 2017, was reported from the Litorale del Cavallino, in the locality Ca’ Ballarin (municipality of Cavallino-Treporti, Venice district).
