Abstract
As speech is the most natural form of human communication, there has been much interest in using it to communicate with machines, although the considerable processing power required has made it difficult to achieve this goal. Now advances in microprocessor technology have made it possible to build speech recognition and synthesis systems for a number of useful real-time applications.
