The object of the present study is the metropolitan city and the different trajectories and policies which can lead to divergent outcomes. A multidisciplinary approach has been used to clarify the concept of Metropolitan City. Then the possible metropolitan developments, both from the point of view of Urban Agriculture, and of Development Economics. have been examined. The various factor of growth are then reviewed, to point to the more efficient policies to face the present transition period. In the conclusive remarks utopia emerges in the project of an open and inclusive “pink” city.
