The following paper aims to think about the uses and functions of the analogy into Montesquieu’s thinking. Most especially, the article wants to discuss the “paradigmatic” function that the Roman history plays into the internal structure of the “Esprit des Lois” by issuing a propose of rereading of the very idea of “paradigma” and suggesting a reinterpretation of Montesquieu’s analogical and comparative “method” in the light of a peculiar conception of historicity
