The essay deals with the phenomenon of migration by analyzing the entanglement between intercultural understanding, formation of personal identity and recognition of the other. It is outlined a human rights based philosophy of migration that focuses on four key issues: primacy of the person, freedom as capability, neutrality of the political community, conditional tolerance.
