Dermoscopy of hypertrophic lupus erythematosus and differentiation from squamous cell carcinoma

A 53-year-old man with chronically sun-damaged skin (Fitzpatrick phototype I) and a history of melanoma presented with numerous longstanding indurated verrucous plaques on the face and forearms (Figs 1 and 2). In addition, a 6-mm scaly papule was noted on the left forearm (see Fig 2, C).
