This essay has the scope to present and analyze the project as a representative case of the methods, procedures and techniques of reconstruction of an historical building, utilizing innovative materials, products and technologies.It is also an opportunity to analyze in detail the development of the project until its fulfillment, achieved through the philological reconstruction, after the interruption of the rebuilding as a modern architecture, as claimed by the community (also through the referendum), willing to have once again the whole Gally theatre in its historical shape and to rebuild the "musical machine". The different experiences of reconstruction caused by traumatic events, as happened to the theatre La Fenice in Venice and theatre Petruzzelli in Bari, can be compared and used to achieve inspiration for the reconstruction of the "where it was, how it was", and for a scientific-technical approach as a methodology for the rebuilding activities
