Il dibattito pubblico, in Italia come in altri paesi, presenta
i veicoli elettrici come una tecnologia destinata
a una diffusione certa sul mercato. Questa asserzione
influenza le politiche e favorisce aspettative da parte
dei cittadini. In questo contesto, è utile esplorare quanto
queste stime sono ragionevoli o devono essere oggetto
di dubbi. I nostri risultati dipingono un panorama
molto più preoccupante dove il 99% delle affermazioni
non sono verificabili (almeno, per una frazione di loro,
di pagare gli autori, mettendo le persone interessate di
fronte all’alternativa “pagarci o crederci”), mentre la
residua frazione appare di debole valore scientifico. I
nostri risultati indicano, che, senza un confronto più
trasparente e critico, le politiche a supporto dei veicoli
elettrici rischiano di basarsi su basi deboli. The public debate, in Italy as in other countries, presents
Electric Vehicles as a technology with good market
diffusion potential. This belief influences the policy
makers and policy advisors and favors expectations of
the general public toward the diffusion of this technology.
In this context, it is relevant to explore how much
figures present in the public debate are reliable. The
purpose of the present article is to check whether these
claims just make sense or are subject to doubt. Our finding
is much more worrying: 99 % these claims are not
even open to scrutiny (unless, for a fraction of them,
upon payment formulating the infamous alternative:
“trust us or pay us”). The tiny remaining fraction has a
poor scientific value. Our finding supports the assumption
that, without a more critical and open confrontation,
the policies supportive of EV are at risk of being
formulated on weak basis.
