La tesi costituisce una biografia di Giorgina Craufurd tracciata attraverso un uso ampio delle scritture epistolari presenti nel fondo di famiglia, conservato presso l’Archiginnasio di Bologna. Nella prima parte dell’elaborato è tracciata una ricognizione dei materiali presenti nel fondo con attenzione all’intervento archivistico operato dalla stessa Giorgina alla fine del XIX secolo. Nel secondo e nel terzo capitolo è ripercorsa la biografia della mazziniana, ricostruita nelle sue relazioni familiari e nel suo percorso politico, da giovane patriota a madrina del movimento femminile italiano. Nella parte finale della tesi si ricostruiscono le tappe e i significati dell’operazione di cura della memoria storica risorgimentale e familiare che Craufurd gestisce attraverso le carte di cui è in possesso
The thesis constitutes a biography of Giorgina Craufurd traced through extensive use of the epistolary writings found in the family archive, preserved at the Archiginnasio in Bologna. In the first part of the work, a survey of the materials in the archive is outlined, with attention to the archival intervention carried out by Giorgina herself at the end of the 19th century. The second and third chapters trace the biography of the Mazzinian, reconstructed in her family relationships and political journey, from a young patriot to the godmother of the Italian women's movement. In the final part of the thesis, the stages and meanings of the operation of preserving the Risorgimento and family historical memory, managed by Craufurd through the documents in her possession, are reconstructed
