Com’è noto, con il termine di “Neogeography”, "nuova geografia", si intende normalmente
un insieme di tecniche e strumenti che, pur non rientrando nel campo dei più
tradizionali sistemi informativi geografici permettono, a utenti non esperti, di creare e
utilizzare proprie mappe combinando elementi di un set esistente in rete (Turner, 2006,
p. 2). Con l'evoluzione del World Wide Web, si assiste infatti alla nascita del web 2.0 il
quale ha dato accesso a siti che utilizzano la tecnologia al di là delle pagine statiche
delle precedenti versioni e che partecipano alla creazione dei contenuti sui social
network, blog, wiki e dei siti di condivisione. Questo lavoro, dopo alcune considerazioni
sull’utilizzo del web 2.0 in campo ambientale, esamina la possibilità di realizzare un
percorso di turismo virtuale sull’isola Piana, una zona con alta potenzialità ambientale
situata nella Sardegna nord-occidentale, difficilmente accessibile ai visitatori in quanto
privata. Vengono utilizzate tecniche di ricostruzione 3D come multiview, la visione omnidirezionale
basata su immagini panoramiche integrate con tecnologie GIS. Neogeography means “new geography” and consists of a set of techniques and tools
that fall outside the realm of traditional GIS, Geographic Information Systems, essentially,
neogeography is about people using and creating their own maps, on their
own terms and by a combining elements of an existing toolset (Turner, 2006, p 2).
By means of the evolution of the World Wide Web we are witnessing the birth of the
web 2.0, this term describe web sites that use technology beyond the static pages of
earlier web sites and that participate into the content creation on social networks,
blogs, wikis and media sharing sites. The aim of this this paper is to represent a
study to build a Web-based virtual tour system, an experience concerning a virtual
tour. The case will be apply to Isola Piana an area with high environmental potentialities
in the North-Western part of Sardinia region. The proposed approach is
comprised of techniques such as multiview 3D reconstruction, omnidirectional viewing
based on panoramic images and their integration with GIS technologies.
