Polymorphism of several genes (CASK, LGB, GH1 and Pit-1) was studied using PCR-RFLP in 81 bulls and 247 cows of the Italian Simmental breed for the production of milk for cheese-making. The frequency percentage was calculated for each locus. The frequency of alleles A, B and C of CASK was 62.7, 35.5 and 1.8%, respectively. The frequency of allele A of LBG and Pit-1 was 51.8 and 15.8%, respectively, while that of allele Leu of GH1 was 57.8%. Frequency of the different alleles was compared with that given by other authors.
