La cartografia relativa ai fiumi è uno strumento essenziale per la navigazione interna. Protagonista attuale nel settore della navigazione fluviale (con competenze sul Po e sull'Idrovia Ferrarese) è oggi la Azienda Regionale per la Navigazione Interna (ARN) dell'Emilia-Romagna, fondata nel 1989. || saggio si apre con alcune riflessioni generali sulle caratteristiche e le problematiche della «cartografia fluviale». In seguito l'articolo illustra sinteticamente la collezione cartografica dell'ARNI, sia quella conservata nella biblioteca e nell'archivio sia quella prodotta dall'azienda stessa. In ultimo, si effettuano alcune considerazioni sulle problematiche dell'archiviazione e della catalogazione delle carte, soprattutto in relazione alla loro riproduzione digitale. The cartography of rivers is an essential tool for the development of inland navigation. The Regional Agency for Inland Navigation (ARNI), founded in 1989, is an institution specifically devoted to the development of inland navigation on the river Po. This essay starts with some general reflections on the nature, the features, and the problems associated to the cartography of rivers and waterways. Then the article presents the cartographic collection preserved in the Agency's library (maps of the river Po and of the Ferrara Waterway created in the last fifty years) and illustrates the Agency's contemporary production of maps for navigators. Last, the article summarizes the problems of filing and preserving the historical and contemporary cartographic productions with the development of a digital library
