Following the so-called Arab Spring, Turkish policy-makers have enlarged Turkey’s geopolitical ambitions beyond the neighboring regions by increasing political, economic and humanitarian efforts toward the Global South. This shift has been driven by a complex set of domestic and systemic factors, and it has the aim to rebuild Turkey’s image and reputation after the backlash due to both the growing de-democratization process and the general international isolation. Dealing with post-structural analytic framework, this article aims to enlighten features, limits and challenges of the new Turkish foreign policy agenda. First, it presents a conceptual scheme about the role of the middle powers in the international system. Secondarily, it focuses on the main tenets of new Turkey’s global agenda through the analysis of the Turkish humanitarian approach.
