Abstract
In this paper, we present some insights into the state of the art and the future evolution of signal processing technologies. Current technology such as voice and image processing, information and microelectronics technologies as well as wireless and cellular technologies will advance dramatically beyond today's powerful performances. Emerging technologies such as multimedia and optical signal processing will play a major role in this. Moreover, highly available communication scenarii among people and between people and machines, will be common place. Consequently, the environment will change greatly with a major impact on the people lifestyle and industry concerns.
