Recombinant proteins represent a new and promising class of polymeric materials in the field of biomaterials research. Human elastin-like polypeptides (HELPs) have been developed as recombinant versions of elastin, with the purpose of enhancing some peculiar characteristics of the native protein, like self-assemby [1-2]. Here, we report on the production of magnetic HELP microparticles prepared through a water-in-oil emulsion process for drug delivery and targeting.
