She graduated in Political Science in 1991 with 110/110 at the University of Trieste. She obtained a PhD in Commodity Sciences in 1996 at the University of Rome La Sapienza and a Master in Quality Management in 1999 at the University Consortium "Qualital" in Pisa. From 2000 to 2004, she was a university researcher in Commodities Study (CO1) at the University of Trieste. Later, she is a confirmed university researcher in Commodity Sciences (SECS-P / 13). Since December 2019, she is an associate professor of Commodity Sciences at the University of Trieste. She teaches Management Systems and Business Certification, Quality Management and Theory and Techniques for Quality Control. The research activity, also carried out in collaboration with foreign authors, focuses on the following areas: i) quality management and control - applications of chemometric methods for the quality analysis and characterization of agri-food products. ii) Design of Experiments for improving and optimizing the quality of products and production processes, including in the pharmaceutical field. iii) environmental sustainability - models for management, reporting and certification. She is an author of more than 90 scientific publications in international books and journals (index h = 9 with over 270 citations - Scopus), presentations at conferences. She is also a referee of international scientific journals, including Foods, British Food Journal, and Sustainability. In addition, she has participated in various national research projects and was a Research unit coordinator of a 2009 PRIN project on the "Valorization of national oil production through the characterization and verification of geographical origin using advanced chemometric techniques". Former President of the Quality Committee of the University of Trieste in the 2013-2019 six-year period, since January 2020, she is a member of the Steering Quality Committee of the Trieste University.

Laureata in Scienze Politiche nel 1991 con 110/110 presso l’Università degli Studi di Trieste, ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca in Scienze Merceologiche nel 1996 presso l’Università di Roma La Sapienza e un Master in Quality Management nel 1999 presso il Consorzio Universitario “Qualital” a Pisa. Dal 2000 al 2004 è ricercatore universitario in Merceologia (C01) presso l'Università di Trieste. In seguito, è ricercatore universitario confermato in Scienze Merceologiche (SECS-P/13). Da dicembre 2019 è professore associato di Scienze Merceologiche presso l’Università di Trieste. Insegna Sistemi di Gestione e Certificazione Aziendale, Gestione della Qualità e Theory and Techniques for Quality Control. L’attività di ricerca, svolta in collaborazione anche con autori stranieri, si focalizza sui seguenti ambiti: i) gestione e controllo della qualità - applicazioni di metodi chemiometrici per l’analisi e la caratterizzazione della qualità di prodotti agroalimentari. ii) Design of Experiments per il miglioramento e l’ottimizzazione della qualità di prodotti e processi produttivi, anche in campo farmaceutico. iii) sostenibilità ambientale - modelli per la gestione, il reporting e la certificazione. Autrice di più di 90 pubblicazioni scientifiche su libri e riviste internazionali (indice h=9 con oltre 270 citazioni -Scopus), presentazioni a congressi, è anche referee di riviste scientifiche internazionali, tra cui Foods, British Food Journal e Sustainability. Ha partecipato a vari progetti di ricerca nazionali ed è stata responsabile scientifico di un progetto PRIN 2009 sulla “Valorizzazione delle produzioni olearie nazionali attraverso la caratterizzazione e la verifica dell’origine geografica mediante tecniche chemiometriche avanzate”. Già Presidente del Presidio della Qualità dell’Università di Trieste nel sessennio 2013-2019, da gennaio 2020 è componente del Presidio della Qualità ristretto dell’Ateneo triestino.
