Fabio Fossati is associate professor in political science at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Trieste, where he teaches International Relations and Strategic Studies. He has also taught at the University of Calabria in Cosenza. He was awarded his PhD in political science by the University of Florence in 1992 and then obtained a post-doctoral research scholarship at the University of Bologna. He was researcher at the Forum on the problems of peace and war in Florence and obtained several research grants at the CNR. He has been visiting scholar at the CEPAL in Santiago and Buenos Aires, CENDES in Caracas, OECD in Paris, University of California in Berkeley, Essex University and Universidad Complutense in Madrid. His research has been concerned with: world order, conflict resolution processes, political cultures and ideologies in international relations, economic security, economic regionalism and international system, global economic institutions, Italian and Spanish foreign policies, political conditionality and foreign aid, European Union enlargement, democratization and economic liberalization in Latin America and third world countries. He has published five books: three monographies in Italian (Market and democracy in Latin America, Italian foreign economic policy, Contemporary armed conflict resolution processes), one manual in Italian (Introduction to world politics)and one volume in English (Interests and stability or idelogies and order in contemporary world politics). Then he published nearly 45 articles in Italian and foreign Comparative Politics and International Relations journals.
