Marina BORTUL was born in Trieste on April, 21st 1956. She graduated at the School of the University of Trieste on November 1981 with full marks. In 1985 she became specialist in General Surgery and in 1991 in Vascular Surgery. From 1987 to 1990 she has worked as assistant at the Institute of General Surgery of the University of Trieste. From 1990 to March 2000 she has worked as university researcher at the Surgical Department of University of Trieste and she carried out teaching courses both to undergraduates of the Faculty of Medicine and to postgraduates of the School of Specialization in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. On March 2000 she became Associate Professor of Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Trieste. She is Author of 145 scientific papers (chapter of books, papers published on ational and international journals) regarding especially oncological surgery (gastric and breast cancer, liver tumors, ecc,) and laparoscopic surgery (cholecystectomy and common bile duct, emergency surgery, liver and splenic cysts, ecc.).
